The suits are fine. Learn your role. The heavy doesn't need a buff, the scout doesn't need a buff. I play a CQC scout and more shield or speed would seriously outbalance the game. I can take out groups of up to 5 guys on my own, when I play smart...sure, I also die a lot, but we are clones, so who cares. |

If you're dying a lot, even when you're as good a player as you say you are (I'm not discounting this, I'm being quite serious) then it's not as good a specialization as it should be. A CQC scout - according CCP - should be able to close the distance with a Heavy and he'll be in trouble. Now, taking on five guys is a stretch, but part of the CQC Scouts ability is to throw frontline's into disarray. If you're dying before that happens - then you're not good at the specialization. But if -all of us- are dying before that happens, then it's the role itself. There are lot of people who are using the Scout suit that are finding it very difficult to remain positive in the KDR spectrum - and while the game isn't solely based on KDR you have to at least be able to make your role worthwhile and inflict more casualties than not. I am not a really good player, methinks. This is the first FPS I played in multiplayer ever...also I have not the best of connections...but I still usually stay positive in KDR, with sometimes very low negatives (like 6/7), but also quite high positives (19/9 up to 27/7 once).
As a scout you are usually alone to not give away your position, but still close to a group that engages the enemy. You then find a way to the enemies' backs and start firing your shotgun, while your teammates suppress them with ARs or HMGs. They usually look in the direction of the attacking group and don't even notice you being right amongst them. You can easily take heavily defended CRUs that way, with enemies spawning and you killing them on the spot before caping the CRU. (although you can also have bad luck there, with enemies spawning in your back). Carrying a Drop Uplink is also very useful, so you can start near the enemies, when you die in an attack, and don't take too long to get back to killing dudes.
When you're completely lonewolfing, you have to avoid many enemies, especially on wide plains, where they have ample opportunity to spot you before you are near enough. You just have to know when to attack and when to retreat. Hit and run style.
And believe me, when I am close to a heavy, he is in trouble. Just don't try charging a HMG head first, you have to surprise him.
When I die, it is usually my own fault, like not getting out of the way of an AR fast enough, deciding I am already close enough to kill him before he does me when I am really not, or engaging an enemy without noticing the three other guys next to him. (Or my bad connection...last match I had about 2 seconds latency...as soon as I noticed that I am being shot at, I was already dead on the server...) |
